You ever see a thriller title and immediately know your evening plans are in danger? That was my reaction to Do Not Disturb by Freida McFadden.

This is the kind of book that sounds engineered for compulsive reading. Strong title. Strong genre promise. And exactly the sort of setup that makes you say, fine, I’ll just read a few pages, right before you look up and realize it’s somehow 1:12 a.m.

What I like about books like this is that they do not need to pretend to be homework. They know the assignment. Pull the reader in, tighten the screws, and keep the pace up. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want with a cup of coffee and a free afternoon.

If you’re in the mood for a thriller that looks like it knows how to weaponize momentum, this one may be the move.
