REVIEWS:
“Those not familiar with the inner workings of higher education may be shocked at the complexity and hellishness of various committees, faculty hierarchies and the pressure to publish. Tiegerman devotes substantial real estate to these topics, laying groundwork in the process for the motive of the killer or killers. Caitlyn’s passion and idealism is also a doorway into putting her character into potential danger as well.”
– Mishka Rao, Best Thrillers
“The book brims with twists and turns that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. It also highlights the unpleasant reality of the divergence of opinions on political views on university campuses, which can lead to tension between professors and students.”

INTERVIEW
- What is the most unexpected thing you learned while writing this book?
When I decided to write Past Lives Denied, I had the opportunity to attend a training seminar for therapists in Omni, New York with Dr. Brian Weiss. I engaged in a group activity with someone else in the group who was a psychic who was able to “see” a personal family experience that shocked me, since she had details that were most surprising. The contact with other people who believe in past lives has continued to reinforce my belief in the “possibility of the impossible.” I love reading about and listening to the personal stories of individuals who have experienced past lives.
- How do you balance the elements of mystery and supernatural in a book?
In Past Lives Denied, the “mystery” involves the supernatural and the fact that the main character, Caitlyn, along with almost everyone else, has not accepted and probably will not accept the “reality” of past lives. The supernatural becomes the avenue, method and means for solving the murder mystery.
- How does the theme of betrayal play out in the narrative?
The theme of betrayal in Past Lives Denied is played out through the element of “trust.” At an academic institution such as a university, there are rules, regulations and standards that set up expectations between Professors, between Professors and students and between Administrators and Professors. In Past Lives Denied, these relationships are all upended through the campus unrest and the murder that takes place on campus.
